About the Book

Bis heute bestehen bewusste und unbewusste Stereotype und Vorurteile gegenüber Fremdgruppen. Immer wieder entstehen Intergruppenkonflikte, die Auswirkungen auf den Einzelnen, die Gesellschaft und die Politik haben. Bisherige Studien zeigen, dass der Imaginierte Intergruppenkontakt (IIK), ein Kontakt allein mithilfe der Vorstellungskraft, Intergruppeneinstellungen verbessert, Vorurteile und Intergruppenängste verringert sowie die Kontaktintentionen und das Kontaktinteresse stärkt. Diese Studie untersucht als erste, ob IIK, d.h. ein Fremdgruppenkontakt in der eigenen Vorstellung, den Kontakt zur Fremdgruppe positiv beeinflusst. Dafür erfolgte zuerst IIK, dann ein Fremdgruppenkontakt mit einer türkischen Mitbürgerin. Für die Bewertung des Intergruppenkontakts wurden subjektive und objektive Daten erhoben und analysiert. Den stärksten Effekt auf reale Intergruppenkontakte übten vorhandene Kontakterfahrungen mit der Fremdgruppe aus.
About the Author: Christina M. Warming, Psychologin M.Sc., wurde 1979 in Münster geboren. Zunächst studierte sie Psychologie an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster mit dem Abschluss Bachelor of Science. Den Abschluss Master of Science legte sie erfolgreich an der Universität Bielefeld in Klinischer Psychologie ab. Heute arbeitet sie therapeutisch nach tiefenpsychologisch fundierter Psychotherapie. Aufgrund ihrer wissenschafts- und forschungsorientierten akademischen Ausbildung entschied sie sich im Rahmen ihrer Masterarbeit für eine experimentelle Studie im 2 x 2 Between-Subjects Design. Dafür führte sie den empirischen Teil der Studie, d.h. die Datenerhebung, Auswertung und statistischen Analysen eigenständig durch und stellte die Ergebnisse im aktuellen Forschungskontext dar. Aktuell ist bis heute, dass unbewusste und bewusste Stereotype und Vorurteile gegenüber Fremdgruppen bestehen. Um Intergruppenbeziehungen zu verbessern, ist die Autorin der Frage nachgegangen, ob sich die reine Imagination eines Intergruppenkontaktes mit einem türkischen Fremdgruppenmitglied bei deutschen Personen positiv auf die nachfolgende reale Interaktion mit einer türkischen Mitbürgerin auswirkt.
