Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Immer häufiger versuchen Menschen, im besonderen Frauen, die mit der Verwirklichung Ihrer Eigenständigkeit ohne traditionelle Rollenstrukturen einen möglichst hohen Grad an Selbstverwirklichung erreichen möchten, aus den traditionellen Beziehungsmustern wie z. B. der Ehe auszubrechen. Die Suche nach alternativen Lebensformen führt für viele aus verschiedensten Gründen irgendwann zu einem Leben ohne partnerschaftliche Beziehungen. Diese "Singles", oder "Alleinlebenden", wie ich sie im Rahmen meiner Arbeit nennen möchte, stellen inzwischen eine immer größer werdende Gruppe dar und ihre Zahl wird nach Theorien der Familiensoziologen noch weiter steigen. Gang der Untersuchung: Ich möchte mit dieser Arbeit versuchen, einen Einblick in die aktuelle Lebenssituation Alleinlebender - die nach meiner Definition eine Untergruppe der Singles sind - im Hinblick auf ihre psychische sowie physische Verfassung, auf ihre Lebensumstände wie die Wohnungssituation und den derzeitigen Arbeitsmarkt zu vermitteln. Auch möchte ich die Gründe des einzelnen, die jeweilige Lebensform gewählt zu haben, beleuchten. Datenmaterial und Aufbau der Arbeit ist die Auswertung bestehender Untersuchungen und Erhebungen. Beschäftigen wird mich hierbei im besonderen die Gruppe der unfreiwillig Alleinlebenden auf Zeit, wobei sich der Personenkreis der 'echten ' Singles, also den bewußt freiwillig alleinlebenden Personen, nicht aus dieser Gruppe ausgrenzen läßt, weil Alleinleben für mein Verständnis als Phase zu betrachten ist. Innerhalb der Auswertung der Interviews und Untersuchungen stellte sich heraus, daß beide Personenkreise -freiwillig und unfreiwillig Alleinlebende innerhalb ihrer Einstellungen bezüglich der gewählten Lebensform schwankten. In manchen Situationen wird das Leben allein sehr positiv bewertet und auch grundsätzlich bejaht, während in anderen Situationen, besonders dann, wenn Einsamkeitsgefühle und Selbstzweifel auftreten, ein großer Wunsch nach Veränderung
