About the Author: Declan graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1980 with an honours degree in Organic Chemistry. From 1980 onwards throughout his career the Abbott Corporation employed him, which is a large Fortune 500, US multinational healthcare company. Declan has held a diverse range of roles during his 26.5 years with Abbott and for the 1st half of his career, posts he held included... Quality Supervisor, Quality Engineer, Production Supervisor, Process Engineer, Process Engineering Manager, Product Development Manager and Customer Liaison Manager. For the 2nd half of his career he held 4 different senior management posts as Business Unit Manager of 2 different business units and also held roles as Quality Manager and Materials/Part Engineering Manager. He has travelled widely in Europe, the United States and Japan. As a result Declan has gained varied and diverse operations, business and people management experience throughout his career. He has shown particular interest in self and employee development. He has trained and learned from many management programmes over the years including Abbott in house and Cranfield School of Management senior management development courses. In 2006 he was awarded an MSc in Management Practice from Trinity College Dublin/Irish Management Institute. Since 2007 he has been working as a freelance management consultant and coach. Declan specialises in helping individuals to analyse their current role and effectiveness, to identify and complete improvement actions for better individual impact and contribution to the business. Declan also provides coaching to managers to clarify organisation and business problems, to identify action priorities and objective help to deal with them.
