This is a book about the journey into womanhood. The struggles, trials and tribulations that a girl has to overcome in order to find her true identity which leads to internal stability and a sense of purpose progressing further with her life.
About the Author: Agnes Palo is a 28 years old, social worker, writer, blogger, academic and creative. She is the eldest of two siblings. she describes herself as assertive, idealistic, witty, passionate, anxious which means she can be impatient at times and says those who spend lots of time around her, would say she is most recognisable by her loud laughter. She works in the social services department of a small town called Matlosana, in the North West Province in South Africa. She is currently studying a master degree with the University of South Africa on developmental social work, she also manages and facilitates an independent organisation which addresses the social inequities of young women striving for better circumstance in the community. She advocates for social justice, equality, transformation and innovative mechanisms to tackling challenges faced by the less resourced or informed. She is an avid reader, notes Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison as her favourite authors as she feels that they write about issues which hits to the core of the experiences that she can relate to and continue to have an underlying effect on the lives of many people around the world. She has a keen interest in geography, history and lifestyle matters. Besides writing and engaging in community work, she enjoys travelling, scrapbooking, meeting new people, adventure, cooking and a bit of shopping. She has other two other novels that she has written that she is yet to publish. The man behind her and a celibate marriage. Some of her future plans include travelling the world, learning the French language, working for the United Nations and doing as much philanthropy as possible. Her take on her first novel, "A woman'scar".She says that she used to think it was a book for young women all, however she has come to grips with that it is a story for all women.All women have to battle with the conditions and issues that seek to inhibit them from their authenticity. That maturity does not neccesarily come with age but rather it is an inward process which you attain once you are honest with yourself.Most women seem to fear being brutally honest with themselves and accept themselves with all their flaws. It sounds like a cliche to say that accepting your problems and challenges is the first step in healing from the wounds and be able to face the scars which remain from the previously painful wounds. I hope the book allows women to start a conversation with themselves which will help them.
