Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Weltgeschichte - Moderne Geschichte, Note: 1,3, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (Neuere Geschichte), Veranstaltung: Europa von außen gesehen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Migrationsforschung ging bis vor kurzem davon aus, dass im vorindustriellen Zeitalter in Europa die Gesellschaft relativ immobil gewesen sei. Zu diesem Schluss kann man kommen, wenn man im Vergleich die Mobilität während der Industrialisierung betrachtet: Die Revolutionierung des Transportwesens, der Kommunikation und der menschlichen Arbeit veränderte natürlich nicht nur die Quantität der Migrationsformen, sondern auch deren Qualität. Doch es ist nicht richtig, anzunehmen, dass Migration vor der industriellen Revolution nur in geringerem Umfang statt gefunden haben soll. Diese Arbeit soll sich in einem ersten Schritt damit befassen, was die Migration in der Zeit, bevor die Industrialisierung in Europa einsetzte, bedingte und in welchen Formen sie statt fand. Ein genaueres Augenmerk soll dabei auf der Arbeitsmigration liegen. In einem weiteren Schritt soll die Migration über den Atlantik nach Amerika behandelt werden und dabei die besondere Form der Arbeitsmigration, das System der "Indetured Servitude", bzw. das "Redemptioner-System" fokussiert werden. Der hier zu behandelnde Zeitraum vor allem in Hinblick auf Einwanderer in Amerika sollen die Jahre zwischen 1783 und 1820, die so genannte "frühe nationalen Periode" sein. Sie reicht vom Ende des amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieges bis in die 1820er Jahre. Jedoch ist es vonnöten, an manchen Stellen über diese zeitlichen Grenzen hinaus zu gehen, um verschiedene Phänomene darzustellen - sei es, um den Beginn der Amerikaauswanderung, oder die überseeische Migration aufgrund der europäischen Industrialisierung und deren Folgen zu erläutern.[...] Diese Arbeit soll anhand der Betrachtung von Arbeitsmigration im Allgemeinen, verknüpft mit den Ursachen für die Anziehungskraft der "Neuen Welt"
