Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Kunst - Kunstgeschichte, Note: 1,7, Universität Konstanz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Modernismus beschreibt eine Position in der Kunst, die mit der Tradition der figurativen Bildkünste bricht. Es handelt sich um ungegenständliche Kunst, die sich einer "reinen" Formensprache bedient. Diese Tendenz der Befreiung ihrer Darstellungen vom Gegenstand, weist auf den reflexiven Hintergrund des Modernismus hin, nämlich dem des sogenannten "Endes der Malerei". Werke wie vor Allem Kazimir Malewitschs "Schwarzes Quadrat auf weißem Grund" oder Rodschenkos Triptychon der Primärfarben sind sich gegenüberstehende Reflexionen des Modernismus. Die Werke sind Bilder äußerster Reduktion, die sich in den monochromen Flächen zeigt. Hinter dieser Konzentration steckt der Gedanke der äußersten Ausdifferenzierung der Kunst. Diesem Reinheitsgedanken des Modernismus liegen dabei die folgenden vier Axiome zugrunde: Der Universalismus, durch den sich die modernistische Kunst als autonom und kanonisch begreift. Den Anspruch der Unmittelbarkeit fasst sie aufgrund ihrer evidenten Form, der keine komplexen Zeichen- und Operationssysteme inne sind. Außerdem erhebt sie auch Anspruch auf Unumkehrbarkeit, da sie mit radikalisierten Positionen, also "Extremformeln" arbeitet. Darin ist das avantgardistische Selbstverständnis der Mission zu Modernisierung enthalten, das sich in einer gradlinigen Progressivität äußert. Als letztes "Urwort des Modernismus" steht der Utopismus, durch den sich die Modernismen als "Modell einer besseren Welt" begreifen. In der postmodernen Verarbeitung dieser Modernismen sollen im Folgenden besonders zwei Tendenzen innerhalb der Kunst hervorgehoben sein. Auf der einen Seite die Appropriation Art, die die modernistische Ästhetik durch Strategien der Wiederaneignung und Neukonstruktion und -kontextualisierung, reflektiert.
