Die Fähigkeit zur Bewältigung komplexer Probleme bestimmt in zunehmendem Masse das Anforderungsprofil der heutigen Führungskräfte. Komplexe Probleme zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass nicht nur eine Vielzahl stark miteinander interagierender Einflussgrössen die Situation charakterisieren, sondern dass das Muster dieses Zusammenwirkens sich dynamisch verändert. Wie Dietrich Dömer in seinem Buch "Die Logik des Misslingens" (Reinbek 1989) eindrücklich gezeigt hat, treten beim Umgang mit komplexen Systemen gemäss unserem üblichen Vorgehen immer wieder folgende Fehler auf: Mangelhafte Zielerkennung - Beschränkung auf Ausschnitte - Einseitige Schwerpunktbildung -Unbeachtete Nebenwirkungen -Hang zur Uebersteuerung - Tendenz zu autoritärem Verhalten. Diese Fehler führen dazu, dass nicht nur ungeeignete, sondern auch kontrapro- duktive Problemlösungen entwickelt werden. Ueber die Gefahr einer reinen Symptombekämpfung hinaus werden auf falschen Grundlagen Entscheide getroffen, die unbeabsichtigte Kettenreaktionen auslösen und zu einem grossen Schaden führen können. Aus dieser Erkenntnis heraus wurde die Methodik des Vernetzten Denkens entwickelt. DieseS; Denken lässt sich dadurch charakterisie- ren, dass die geläufige Ursache-Wirkungs-Denkweise durch ein Denken in Kreisläufen ersetzt wird, das auch Trendbrüche, Veränderungen und Prozesse zu erfassen erlaubt. Das Vemetzte Denken hilft der Führungskraft, Probleme so abzugrenzen, dass nicht eine Symptombekämpfung erfolgt, über Netzwerke Zusammenhänge zu verstehen und Frühwamindikationen zu erarbeiten, Eingriffe am geeigneten Ort und zum richtigen Zeitpunkt zu planen, Strategien, Projekte und Massnahmen bei der Umsetzung vermehrt auf die Gesetzmässigkeiten und die Eigendynamik der Situation abzustimmen.
