A leap of faith.Have you ever felt so stuck about a situation that you just let God take over? In 2002 I met the man of my dreams. Or so I believed. It was one of those the skies parted, lighting erupted from the Heavens, and a chorus of angels sang type of things. Like God pointed at this man and said "Yes him."That relationship crashed and burned in horrifically short time. One night together and I'd scared him off. I might have come on a bit too strong but really I was telling all of my friends in Ohio that I thought a God I hadn't previously believed in wanted me to move to Los Angeles and marry a cop. Coincidences and synchronicities were piling up in all directions, which convinced me to drop everything and move to California. I was sure God had a plan for me, that some destiny that I couldn't quite see or understand was waiting for me in Los Angeles.But after my move to California everything fell apart. My art wasn't selling and my credit cards were getting maxed out. My Aunt Sharon was kicking me out of her house in Oceanside so I could go back to graduate school in Ohio, back to my wannabe fiancée Eddie Cherry. Back to that normal life I was supposed to have.I let God take over. I decided to make my stand and sell my art wherever my car ran out of gas on the Pacific Coast Highway. When it settled Venice Beach, California was a short walk away.I met somebody new there a few short days later, a man named Joe. He said planned on moving to a country in Southeast Asia called Thailand in one week. But I wasn't sure about him. I was reeling from the prior situation with the cop and bracketed by the knowledge that I'd be going back to Ohio and likely seeing Eddie. Me and Ed had never really been a thing yet I couldn't quite seem to get rid of him either. I was at an intersection between past and present and unsure of what the future held. So I put my faith in God. Back on the road again, from California to Ohio. I'd memorized the way during my childhood. "I was planning on driving alone in a 1989 Honda Civic with little brakes, an overheating problem, poor rear suspension and bad tires 2500 miles alone through the scorched belly of summertime middle America, if, and that was a very big if, the car somehow could manage to make it that far. To make matters even worse I hadn't had the money to pay either my vehicle registration or car insurance in months. I had no backup plan for getting stranded, only five dollars in my pocket and a credit card I had received in the mail a few weeks before that I hoped I did not overlimit. I had one cell phone and one carton of cigarettes. All the time in the world. And a dog named Nemo."What a long strange trip it's been. This was the beginning of my real journey.
