Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Sonstiges, Note: 1, Universität Hamburg (Geschichtswissenschaften), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am 01. Mai 1308 fiel König Albrecht I. im Alter von 52 Jahren einem Mordanschlag seines Neffen Herzog Johann, der sich um sein Erbe geprellt fühlte, zum Opfer. Der Mord wurde in den Chroniken und der späteren Literatur meist auf das Rachemotiv Johanns reduziert und damit als reine Privatsache eines Einzelnen dargestellt. Fraglich ist jedoch, ob weitere Interessen im Spiel gewesen sein könnten. Albrecht hatte sich zahlreiche Feinde gemacht, zu denen selbst die Kurfürsten, die ihn 1298 zum König gewählt hatten, gehörten, so dass mit der Nachricht von Albrechts Tod nicht wenige zumindest aufatmeten, wenn nicht sogar davon profitierten. Durch den Tod Albrechts wurde jedenfalls die weitere Entfaltung der habsburger Hausmacht zu einem starken Königtum jäh unterbrochen. Mit dieser Arbeit soll im Kontext der verschiedenen Interessen untersucht werden, ob es sich bei dem Mord tatsächlich, wie in der Literatur dargestellt, um eine reine Privatsache gehandelt hat, oder ob nicht doch die Möglichkeit eines Tyrannenmordes in Betracht gezogen werden muss. Hierbei werden vor allem die rund 98.000 Verszeilen umfassende Österreichische Reimchronik Ottokars, die allein 75.000 Verszeilen Albrecht und seinen Taten widmet, das Werk Johanns von Viktring, ebenfalls aus dem österreichischen Raum und die Chronik des Mathias von Neuenburg die Quellengrundlage bilden. Darüber hinaus wird die um 1534-38 entstandene Chronicon Helveticum - Grundlage für Friedrich Schillers Wilhelm Tell, in dem Herzog Johann eine Nebenrolle spielt - verfasst von Tschudi, einem scharfen Gegner des Hauses Habsburg, in die Betrachtung mit einfließen.
