Cyborgs are enigmas. Living, yet not living. Living tissue over robotic functions. Almost indistinguishable from a human being. Supposedly without emotions or human desires. They follow orders without questions. But Talon does not fit those parameters all of the time. In the beginning, Talon enjoys many of his missions, but that soon changes. The simple human desire not to be alone becomes almost overwhelming. The government wants him to commit to a deep space mission, which may take years to complete. Technology becomes available to travel at near light speed, so the space mission will not take as long as initially expected. But, will such extended space travel interfere with seeing his children grow and mature and with having a relationship? Only time will tell.
About the Author: Phillip A. Wright was raised in North Florida, South Georgia, and Tennessee. His father was in the U.S. Navy and his mother was a career telephone operator. Growing up, Phillip loved to read and write. He has always had a love of telling stories and putting his stories to paper. His many unpublished short stories, now being gathered as a collection, are his next major task. A sequel to Talon, Silene - Cyborg Astronaut, is already in the works. Phillip lived in the area of Mayport Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, FL as a young boy. His family then moved to Cordele, GA, when his father retired from the U.S. Navy. Following high school graduation in 1973, he joined the U.S. Air Force and remained on active duty until his retirement in 1994. He met his future wife on his first day at his first duty station, and he and Marilyn were married i n 1975. They are the parents of three adult children and the grandparents of six. Phillip holds a Masters of Arts degree in Public Administration from Webster University. In addition, he holds a Master of Divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Northeast Campus, Schenectady, NY. Phillip served as a Special Agent for the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations for most of his military career. While in the Air Force, Phillip and Marilyn served at eight duty stations on three continents . One could say his family is well traveled. They made it a priority to meet people from different cultures, mainly through hosting foreign exchange students. Phillip and Marilyn have always been active in churches in the various locations where they lived, in New York, Alaska, Illinois, California, South Korea and Germany. He has also served shorter periods in Arizona, Nevada, Japan, Okinawa and Turkey. After his retirement from the Air Force in 1994, Phillip graduated from seminary and served as the pastor of one church for five years. Since retirement, he has primarily worked as a contract investigator for the U.S. Government. Phillip and Marilyn both continue to live and work full time i n central upstate New York.
