About the Book

Walter Grant, by his superlative performance as a life insurance salesman and sales office manager, wrote his name indelibly in the pages of history. He broke all records qualifying for every prestigious award and designation including Top of the Table membership of the international Million Dollar Round table (M.D.R.T). He rose from humble deep rural origins in Jamaica but was never constrained by the poverty of his early circumstance. His steely resilience was forged by the harsh fire of infant abandonment by his parents, child labor, near death encounter with warring political party sponsored gangs, a decade long career in Jamaica's police service as a fearless detective, fathering seven children with five different women, breaking in his rebellious sons, and taking down the competition in life insurance sales as "hard as they came" at him. In the fifty seven years that he lived, Walter Grant's achievements are surpassed by few who lived longer or are celebrated as the "greats" of all time. He amassed a fortune which enabled him to afford the best medical care in the world after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July 2016, which resulted in his passing fifteen months later. This book traces Walter Grant's footsteps from his humble beginnings, his school days, work experiences, amazing achievements, and terminal illness, all of which brought to light the greatness of his competitive spirit that made him such a great model of success. The book reveals how he epitomized "The Man Without a Doubt" which the Author, Hylton Dennis, characterized him as at the start of the book. It shows a man who was never afflicted by low self esteem, championing his cause as well as he championed the cause of others, and leaving an enormous immortal legacy of "Winning Against all Odds". Walter Grant was known by his inspirational utterances including: "People buy difference not similarity or popularity"; "None of us have any control over our situation, how we respond is what makes the difference"; "Challenges are what motivate me"; "The only thing I know to do is fight"; "Success is the way for me"; "Having a degree is not doing the job, it's the passion, respect and love for people"; "When you give first-class service it will sell you"; "True success is when you help other people to reach their goals"; "Client satisfaction is what drives me"; and "Jack Panino chicken say him no bawl fi feather him bawl fi life". Walter Grant left an indelible mark wherever he went. On October 7, 2017, Sagicor Life Insurance Company posthumously inducted him into its Sagicor Hall of Fame at its Sagicor Legacy Ball. This coincided with the first anniversary of his passing. In reflecting his life, the book reveals that though he lived a relatively short time Walter Grant lived a full life. He touched lives and made an impact on his community in many ways. The level of respect and love that people had for him was shown at the final gathering to celebrate his life. It was impossible to facilitate presentation of all the tributes that those whose lives were touched by him wanted to give there. While he had reason to believe his passing was imminent and did his best to prepare himself and his loved ones for his departure from physical life, his family and friends were shocked to the core when it occurred. Nevertheless, they found some comfort in the fact that, once again, he defied the odds, surpassing doctor's expectation by surviving longer with the terminal cancer than they had pronounced that he would survive. Walter Grant "fought a good fight" to the very last, crowning the impressive record of performances established throughout its years. Brevity was no indictment! Substance was all that mattered and Walter Grant poured its Success type into his life, so that it overflowed the bounds of his numbered days. The tremendous positive impact that this book will make on everyone that reads its cannot be exaggerated. The proof will be in the reading it!
