About the Book

Im Zuge der Einrichtung eines eigenen Vorstandsbereiches für das Infonnati- onsmanagement bei renommierten Versicherungsunternehmen und der zuneh- menden Verbreitung der strategischen Unternehmensführung in der Versicherungswirtschaft wurde erkannt, daß die Notwendigkeit besteht, auch die betriebliche Infonnationsinfrastruktur bzw. Anwendungsarchitektur unter strategischen Aspekten zu planen. Sowohl in der Wissenschaft als auch in der Praxis wird vielfach die Forderung erhoben, daß sich die Gestaltung der Infor- mationssysteme an den wettbewerbsrelevanten Faktoren auszurichten habe, um langfristig Vorteile auf dem Markt gegenüber den Konkurrenzunternehmen zu gewinnen. Zusätzliches Gewicht erhält diese Forderung durch die Realisierung des EG-Binnenmarktes. Um der zukünftigen Bedeutung der Planung strategi- scher Infonnationssysteme in der Versicherungswirtschaft Rechnung zu tragen, habe ich versucht, in Kooperation mit dem Arbeitsbereich Betriebswirtschaftli- che Datenverarbeitung im Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften an der Uni- versität Hamburg, der IBM Deutschland GmbH und meinem Arbeitsgeber, der Volksfürsorge Deutsche Lebensversicherung AG, einen methodischen Ansatz für eine derartige "strategische Infonnationsplanung" zu entwickeln, der auf ei- nem in Europa gängigen Management-Modell basiert An dieser Stelle möchte ich die Gelegenheit ergreifen, um all jenen Personen und Organisationen meinen Dank auszusprechen, die an der Erstellung dieser Arbeit mitgewirkt haben. Meinen Kollegen Herrn H. -H. Stasch, Leiter der Hauptabteilung Zentrale Ab- lauforganisation und Herrn K. -P.
