About the Book

Based on a True Story. This is the author's first children's book after ending his published comic strip (newspapers) after five years, so he could write more.

[Note: A 'Best of Collection' of his strip can be found at: Stevie Tenderheart the Unknown Comic (First Draft Cartoons). ISBN: 978-1-62485-027-1]

Summary: A warm and 'tenderhearted' story of gladness and adventure abound in this amazingly crafted, illustrated story in verse about a sweet little boy who loves his bed so much, he wishes he could take it everywhere he goes.

NEW RELEASE UPDATE: The author has elevated this wildly popular 'picture book' to a 6 x 9" paperback novella [eBook Novella: 74 pages / Print Novella: 84 pages] with the same beautiful illustrations, so older children can get in on the fun too. It's a fuller, richer, adventure story, to be released in October 2021.

[eBook Novella ISBN: 978-1-62485-090-5 - Print Novella ISBN: 978-1-62485-089-9]

Stevie Tenderheart

***************************

Because: Kindness Wins the Day!

Stevie books are perfect for Bright Eyes & Toothless Grins. They will touch your heart.

Stevie books spark imaginations.

Stevie books appeal to positivity, kindness and a general feeling of self-confidence and well-being.

Stevie books are easy to read. The author, as is his style, dispenses with an overabundance of "he said, she said," dialogues.

Ideally, Stevie books are meant to be read ONLY at bedtime.

Stevie bedtime storybooks help children feel silly, loved, (safe & cozy) at bedtime for a gentle night's sleep. (That's all any parent wants.) The rhythmic storytelling cadence (stories within stories) and the adorable wildlife illustrations, quite simply, captivate young imaginations. As the younger children in your life listen intently to your every word, Stevie's wonderful journeys replace the noise of the day with innocence, kindness and play-all the things sweet dreams are made of, appear on these pages.

Stevie books also help parents put their children to bed night after night, on time, every time, guaranteed.

-- Just be mindful when you say, "It's Stevie time." They will likely hear, "It's TV time." (And that's on you.)

All snuggled into their beds, their covers wrapped up around their heads, 5-10 pages a night ought to do the trick.

Your child's bright eyes and fascination will surrender to the sandman, as questions, comments, giggles and grins melt away into lullabies of yawns, whispered sighs and heavy eyes, leading to a gentle night's sleep.

(Stevie Tenderheart books have been lauded with 600+ Goodreads ratings and reviews.
About the Author: Steve Laible is the proud father of three sons, Adam, Chase and Kyle. On New Year's Eve, 1993, Steve retired from the United States Air Force after a 22-year distinguished career, enlisted & commissioned. He served three years with the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon; five years with the Commander-in-Chief, Pacific (Hawaii) and was the Chief of Administration for the USAF Honor Guard in Wash DC under President Reagan. Steve was named "USAF Outstanding Administrator of the Year". He was also nominated for a White House Fellowship under President Clinton and awarded the Bronze Star device for Desert Storm. He earned his B.S. and MBA in his off-duty time, evenings and weekends--it took 12 years! Steve was born in Ashland, Oregon and graduated from Marshfield (Coos Bay). His community volunteerism spans decades and includes adult literacy tutor; ChildHelp USA, the Cooper Home; Cystic Fibrosis, Special Olympics events; and was invited annually to play Santa Claus & the Easter Bunny. Steve is a big kid at heart. He loves to make people laugh (smiles count). He's made the semi-final auditions for CBS' Big Brother and Survivor six times. His is now terrified of making either show as he's lost his "agility". (Code for he's old.) Steve is concerned for the arts; the need for leadership & mentoring; teenaged homelessness; the environment and many more. He truly believes a change of heart changes everything. Steve created the comic strip, Stevie Tenderheart, sort of a retelling of his youth, which ran in local newspapers for about five years. He ended the comic strip in 2010 to write children's books.
