Die sprachliche und soziokulturelle Vielfalt wurde zunächst als Folge von Migration sichtbar und thematisiert, danach aber auch mit der europäischen Integration, mit der historischen Multikulturalität sowie mit den Auswirkungen der Globalisierung in Verbindung gebracht. Diese Pluralität gilt seit Mitte der siebziger Jahre für viele als Herausforderung für Schulpraxis, Bildungspolitik, Pädagogik. Welche Strategien entwickeln nationale und regionale Bildungssysteme sowie Einzelschulen, um sich auf die verschiedenen Formen der Mehrsprachigkeit und der Heterogenität der Schulklassen einzustellen? Wie verhält sich die Praxis zu den rhetorischen Diskursen? Den Kern dieser empirischen Untersuchung bilden sechs Fallstudien in Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien sowie drei Schweizer Kantonen. Die Grundausrichtung eines Schulsystems (integrativ oder trennend und selektiv) ist dafür entscheidend, wie die sprachliche und soziokulturelle Vielfalt wahrgenommen wird: als Teil einer heute «normalen» Heterogenität oder aber als «Störung», die getrennter Unterrichtsangebote bedarf. Die Pluralität ist nicht das Spezialgebiet einer «interkulturellen Erziehung», sondern eine unverzichtbare Aufgabe der Schule, Bildung und Pädagogik.
About the Author: Die Autorin: Prof. Dr. Cristina Allemann-Ghionda, in Rom geboren, lehrt Allgemeine Pädagogik mit dem Schwerpunkt Interkulturelle Pädagogik an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Universität zu Köln. Zuvor war sie Dozentin und Lehrbeauftragte an den Universitäten Zürich, Bern, Genf und Münster. Habilitation in Allgemeiner Erziehungswissenschaft, Schwerpunkt vergleichende Erziehungswissenschaft. Leitung von zwei vom Schweizerischen Nationalfonds geförderten Forschungsprojekten (1993-1998). Ihre Lehre und ihre Veröffentlichungen gehen international und interkulturell vergleichenden Fragestellungen nach. Darin werden bildungssoziologische und bildungstheoretische Probleme im internationalen und interkulturellen Vergleich untersucht. Zahlreiche Veröffentlichungen, darunter Multikultur und Bildung in Europa bei Peter Lang.
