Examensarbeit aus dem Jahr 2016 im Fachbereich Latein, Note: 1,3, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit soll die augusteische Literatur im Hinblick auf die Darstellung der Schlacht bei Actium überprüft werden. Dafür sollen Vergil und Horaz als Stellvertreter dieser Literaturform genauer analysiert werden. Diese beiden Dichter gehören zu den einflussreichsten und bedeutendsten Vertreter ihrer Zeit, die durch sie gewonnen Erkenntnisse können stellvertretend für die augusteische Literatur im Allgemeinen stehen. Wie stellen die beiden Dichter die Schlacht bei Actium dar? Welchen Zweck verfolgen sie dabei? Weicht ihre Darstellung von den realen Begebenheiten im besonderen Maße ab und wenn ja, warum? Durch den zeitlichen Abstand von etwa zweitausend Jahren von der Schlacht bei Actium und der Herrschaft Augustus' bis heute eröffnet sich jedoch auch ein weiterer Blickwinkel auf die Darstellung seines Sieges. Auch der moderne Spielfilm hat im Konflikt, der schließlich zur Seeschlacht bei Actium führte, ein darstellungswürdiges Filmmaterial gefunden und es verarbeitet. Was daraus folgt, sind bildhafte Schlachten, die in ihrer Detailgenauigkeit dank der Möglichkeiten des Films die Dichtung überragen. Wie auch in der augusteischen Literatur gibt es eine Vielzahl cineastischer Werke, die sich, eingebettet in die Rahmenhandlung, mit der Schlacht bei Actium befassen. Der Blick soll hierbei auf drei gleichnamige Spielfilme gerichtet werden: Im Film Cleopatra interpretieren die Regisseure DeMille (1934), Mankiewicz (1963) und Roddam (1999) die Seeschlacht auf verschiedene Weisen. Wie auch für die Dichtung, soll für den Spielfilm gefragt werden, wie die Schlacht bei Actium dargestellt wird. Welchen Zweck verfolgt die Darstellung hier?
