About The Author: Dr. P. Ramadass, retired Professor and Head, Department of Animal Biotechnology, Madras Veterinary College, has put in 33 years of service in teaching and research. He got his BVSc degree from Madras University, MVSc degree from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Uttar Pradesh, DVPH and Ph.D. from Massey University, New Zealand. He has undergone three stints of postdoctoral training, one in New Zealand, and two in US. His area of specialization was molecular diagnostics. His earlier work on molecular typing of leptospira is being quoted by many researchers in the area of leptospirosis. He has guided 19 research students on their postgraduate degrees and published about 120 research papers in national and international journals. He was involved in teaching Research Methodology for postgraduate students for many years at Madras Veterinary College, which created an interest to bring out this book for the benefit of research students. He has written two textbooks titled Animal Biotechnology, Recent Concepts and Developments and Practical Biotechnology. Dr. Wilson Aruni, Associate professor in Veterinary Microbiology, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai, obtained his MVSc in Microbiology in 1993 and Ph D in the same subject (Molecular Virology) in 2000. He had worked in the department of Veterinary Microbiology and Animal Biotechnology and has 15 years of experience in active teaching and research, and has published 47 research articles, 16 of which were published in international publications. He is the recipient of 4 awards and has two patents filed. He has handled three projects funded by ICAR, BRNS, DBT, with two ongoing DBT-funded projects. His field of specialization is on animal tissue culture, nanodelivery systems, molecular immunology and vaccinology.
