About the Book

Met 'n rugsak oor sy skouer kom Jack Follet pas van die Amasone-rivier in Suid-Amerika by die dorp Parys teen die Vaalrivier, aan. In 'n supermark klap die beeldskone Beulah Senekal hom deur die gesig omdat hy kwansuis aan haar boud gevat het.

'n Polisie-offisier sien dat hy onskuldig is. Buite die supermark maak hy kennis met sy oorlede vader se jonger broer. By die se gasteplaas ontmoet hy die res van die familie. Hy en die beeldskone Beulah maak vrede, maar die noodlot speel 'n troefkaart en die moeder van die familie word wreedaardig vermoor. Beulah trou met Trevor Visser, een van die manne wat Jack na Suid-Amerika laat vlug het.
Jack gee pad voor die venyn van bedrog. Hy raak weer betrokke by 'n paar pragtige vroue en maak vriende met van die plaaswerkers. 'n Verhouding met 'n mooi vrou loop skeef en weereens moet hy vlug.

Op 'n grondpad in Spanje kom hy op 'n omgeslaande bakkie af en help die jong meisie, Tereza . Hy ontmoet haar beeldskone ouer suster en eienares, Drusilla Lopez . Hy help op die reuse plaas en ontmoet drie mede-Suid-Afrikaanse mans - Rusty van Vuuren, Peet Roux en Neels Boshoff.

Kort na sy ontmoeting met die donkerkop skoonheid en vuurvreter, Drusilla, is dit duidelik dat daar 'n elektriese lading in die lug is. Hulle raak dieper en dieper bymekaar betrokke en tree in die huwelik, maar die noodlot is nie klaar met Jack nie. In 'n poging om wraak op hom te neem, word sy vrou, sy nuwe vriend en dié se vrou vermoor. Jack word die voog van sy skoonsuster asook die kindjie RJ van sy vermoorde vriende, Rusty en Roza. Bert, een van sy ou vriende in Suid-Afrika kom daarheen om Jack by te staan, maar die man stem nie saam met Jack se wraakplanne. Na 'n woordewisseling keer Bert terug na Suid-Afrika en die twee vriende breek alle bande.

Jack neem wraak op die brein agter die moorde en daar vind hy uit wie verantwoordelik is vir die dood van sy vrou en vriende. Hy besluit om terug te keer na Suid-Afrika, hierdie keer met Tereza Lopez Follet en RJ van Vuuren Follet by hom. In die Kalahari koop hy weer 'n plaas en begin van vooraf. Bert verraai hom aan die plaaslike Polisie, maar sy Spaanse burgerskap stuit hulle. Na heelwat drama ontmoet hy weer Beulah Senekal Visser en die hartstog-dinamiet ontplof.

Gaan sy liefde vir Beulah, Jack se wraak stuit of gaan die noodlot dit weereens kelder?
