About the Book

Oliver Twist is a thrilling novel that documents the adventures of Oliver Twist, from being stuck in an orphanage to being adopted by the family he attempts to steal from. Summary Of The Book Oliver Twist revolves around a young boy, Oliver, who is born during the early part of the nineteenth century. While giving birth, Oliver’s mother dies, which results in him being sent to an orphanage. During his time there, Oliver endures a great deal of thrashings and is starved, along with the other orphans. Oliver approaches the dreadful authoritarian, requesting him for more, which results in Oliver being kicked out of the workhouse. A family then decides to take him in, but he soon runs away from there as well, on his quest to land it big in London. He then befriends Jack Dawkins, joining the child gang of thieves, head by Fagin. After completing his training to be a pickpocket, Oliver sets out on his first job, which goes awfully wrong. A drunken magistrate nearly sentences Oliver to three months of labor. However, Mr. Brownlow, the man whom he tried robbing, saves Oliver and takes him home. Oliver is then suddenly taken back by two gang members and is sent out on another job, where he needs to accompany Sikes on a burglary. This time, his gang members target a very grand house, but Oliver decides to warn the family that they’re being robbed, by dropping his lantern. Oliver is then shot by the family, after which he tells them that the gang members forced him to steal. The family then has pity on Oliver, deciding to adopt him. Oliver enjoys his time with the family, but Fagin’s gang members are still on his track. Is Oliver able to escape from Fagin’s ever-watchful eye? What happens to his adopted family? This book answers these questions and more. About Charles Dickens Charles Dickens was an author and social critic.
