Un ama de casa es sacudida de su mediocre vida cotidiana por un anuncio en el periodico: "Por imposibilidad de criarla se vende a buen precio una cria de unicornio..." Desde este momento su vida cambiara, para bien? para mal? Es dificil saberlo. Esta es la historia de "La mujer que crio un unicornio en su cocina", el primer relato del libro. Una madre que agoniza y cuatro hermanas que la rodean. Todos los sentimientos contradictorios, los recuerdos, el dolor y la pesadumbre que esta situacion hace surgir. Una descripcion intensa de las relaciones familiares tan dolorosas y a veces grotescas en un relato en que se escuchan las voces de las hijas frente a la madre que calla y agoniza, en el cuento "Mami hasta el fin". La vida ardua de los emigrantes, los amores, a veces felices. a veces frustrados, todo en el periodo de la creacion de una pelicula que contara estos mismos hechos y la experiencia del guionista en su vida anterior, en la epoca de la dictadura en el Uruguay. Una historia personal que es de tantos y que se plasma en el "Guion sudamericano", una historia de amor y lucha. La guerra se hace presente en varias historias y sus victimas, en el Cercano Oriente, en el que el conflicto es lo cotidiano, ya sea en el la guerra del LIbano o en Gaza. Los relatos nos llevan desde la fantasia hasta la dura realidad, en que hay lugar para el sufrimiento pero tambien para el amor y la esperanza.
About the Author: Lidia Gordon Knecht nacio en Montevideo, Uruguay. Emigro a Israel y vive en un kibbutz en la Galilea Occidental. Publico cuatro libros de ficcion en hebreo, un libro documental sobre el kibbutz y un libro de Critica Literaria en castellano (El texto ludico, Edit. Hispanoamerica). Se doctoro en Literatura en la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalen. Recibio varios premios literararios, publico en revistas literarias y residio en Espania con becas academicas. Un maravilloso verano residio en Yaddo, Saratoga Springs, con una beca para un escritor israeli. Es casada y tiene tres hijos mayores.
