Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Kunst - Architektur, Baugeschichte, Denkmalpflege, Note: 1,7, Universität Kassel (Architektur, Stadt- und Landschaftsplanung), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der Arbeit werden zwei unterschiedliche, moderne Siedlungsplanungen mit verschiedenen historischen Planungsansätzen in Kassel untersucht. Die Auswahl fiel auf die Marbachshöhe, als ein gerade abgeschlossener Konversionsprozess der 1990er Jahre, und die Siedlung am Rothenberg, als Beispiel für das "Neue Bauen" in der Weimarer Republik. Der ideologische Hintergrund der Marbachshöhe verfolgt die Neugestaltung einer ehemaligen Kasernenfläche, die durch Konversion in ein mischgenutztes Stadtviertel verwandelt wurde. Da finanzielle Mittel der Stadt nicht zur Verfügung standen und eine möglichst kostenneutrale Umsetzung angestrebt wurde, ist mit Hilfe ansässiger Wohnungsbaugenossenschaften über einen städtebaulichen Vertrag, eine Masterplanung des Gebietes erfolgt und umgesetzt worden. Das Ziel war es die Marbachshöhe in ein gemischtes, nachfrageorientiertes Umfeld aus Wohnen, Büro- und Gewerbenutzung mit sozialen Einrichtungen und Einzelhandel zu entwickeln. Die Siedlung am Rothenberg ist in wirtschaftlicher Repression und starker Wohnungsnot entstanden. Der Architekt Otto Haesler entwickelte auf dem Gelände des Rothenbergs eine Siedlung nach den Prinzipien des "Neuen Baues", in einer damals noch unbekannten Stahlskelettbauweise. Gleichwertige, verbesserte Lebensbedingungen für alle sollten geschaffen werden. Diese Siedlung steht für den Beginn des sozialen Wohnungsbaus. Gerade im Bezug auf die Rothenbergsiedlung entstand die Frage, in wie weit heute noch die Ideologie für die Bewohner angemessen und aktuell ist und den heutigen gestellten Anforderungen standhalten. An welchen Punkten entstehen Konflikte im Wohnumfeld? Wo gibt es Punkte an denen die Planungsidee missverstanden wird?
