Seit zehn Jahren gehören Studien zur Akzeptanz und Nutzung neuer Medien und Kommunikationssysteme zum regulären Forschungsprogramm der Forschungsstelle für Medienwirtschaft und Kommunikationsforschung, Universität Hohenheim (Stuttgart). Die Forschungsstelle war u.a. als Projektnehmer beim Feldversuch Mul- timediale Dienste in Baden-Württemberg für den Untersuchungsbereich Markt- chancen und soziale Folgen zuständig, in dessen Zusammenhang ein aufwendiges Befragungsinstrument entwickelt wurde. Bekanntlich wurde der Feldversuch Ende 1996 eingestellt. Die Entwicklung des digitalen und interaktiven Fernsehens ist in der Zwischenzeit fortgeschritten. Aufgrund der bereits vorhandenen Vorarbeiten lag es nahe, die Forschungsarbeiten über das digitale Fernsehen fortzusetzen. Vor die- sem Hintergrund haben wir 1999 mit der hier vorliegenden Untersuchung begonnen. Die Untersuchung befasst sich schwerpunktmäßig mit den Nutzungspotentialen von spezifischen Diensten des digitalen Fernsehens und - entsprechend der derzeiti- gen Entwicklung - vor allem von digitalem Pay-TV. Dabei wird nicht nur über die aktuelle Marktlage und die technische Entwicklung informiert, sondern im Rahmen einer umfangreichen Befragung das Potential von bestimmten Angeboten und Pake- ten ausgelotet. Darüber hinaus wird auch auf die Zufriedenheit mit alternativen An- geboten (z.B. analoges Fernsehen, Video, Kino etc.) eingegangen. Schließlich wer- den auch mögliche Folgen der neuen digitalen und interaktiven Angebote unter- sucht. Die Studie Digitales Fernsehen wurde von der Volkswagen-Stiftung unter- stützt, der wir an erster Stelle für die Förderung danken möchten. Herrn Dip!.-Päd.
