He obtained his BTech (Chem. Engg.) and later M. E. degree in Industrial Safety Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Tirichirapalli, Tamil Nadu. He acquired his International Diploma in Environment Management from British Safety Council. Shri Chakrabarty also undertook foreign assignments and worked in KNPC, Kuwait (Mina-Al-Ahmedi Refinery) as Area Safety Engineer in Federal Communication Committee (FCC). He was also associated with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies and population survey for petroleum pipeline projects. He has published 60 odd technical papers in various national and international conferences in Singapore and Australia and few papers in Hydrocarbon Asia and Petromin magazines. He has earlier authored two books on safety titled A Reference Book of Industrial Safety and Industrial Disaster Management and Emergency Response.
