About the Book

Edward and his mega-yacht full of misfits go full postal in Part II. Ryan, Tory and the children flee Bermuda in the night and are pursued by Edward and subjected to his full on fury at sea which results in several powerful tragedies. The author of Maelstrom does not always play by the rules, so be warned in advance, you may feel as though you were thrown into a washing machine reading this second segment!

Ryan also joins forces in Part II with an unlikely ally in the form of a MA State Trooper who lost his wife to a drug overdose. He's a complicated and lethal character who doesn't really care whether he lives or dies but is determined to avenge his wife's death. He helps Ryan understand how difficult it is to bring people like Edward to justice using just legal means. Ryan might be a "live and let live" kind of guy, Chris is not. He's more of a "live and kill every last one of the cockroaches first" kind of guy and has the skills, training and means to so.

In PART I of Maelstrom, Ryan Cunningham leaves the security of his hometown on a sailing adventure to the Caribbean. He meets a beautiful, single, mother of two right before leaving and agrees to let her and her children sail south with him. She is in recovery from drug addiction and working hard to put her life back together. After barely surviving hurricane force winds on the first leg of their trip they run afoul of an amoral, international drug smuggler named Edward who gets a resentment and sets out to destroy them in Bermuda. In PART III, next month, the hunted become the hunters and Ryan and Tory try to exact justice and retribution. Will their ambitious and dangerous plan work or will they just become more chum in the wake of the White Lady?

Rip Converse is a licensed sea captain and skilled craftsman who has made over 20 sailing trips between New England, Bermuda and the Caribbean. He has also run larger ships in the oil fields, charter boats in the FL Keys and a ferry in Boston Harbor. He has lived aboard a classic wooden sloop in the Caribbean and cruised in both the Mediterranean and South Pacific. He currently resides in Sarasota, FL with his wife Louise and their two black labs.
