Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Skandinavistik, Note: 1,6, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Institut für Nordische Philologie), Veranstaltung: Knut Hamsun, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Bei der Lektüre von Knut Hamsuns Roman Pan aus dem Jahre 1894 erscheint neben zahlreichen anderen sowohl formalen als auch inhaltlichen Besonderheiten die Beziehungsvielfalt innerhalb der Erzählung augenfällig: So werden im Rahmen einer eingeschränkten Räumlichkeit (ein kleine Handelsstätte im norwegischen Nordland) und eines ebenfalls begrenzten Figurenkollektivs (in Glahns Bericht rund acht handelnde Charaktere, vergl. Punkt II. 1.2.a)) verschiedene Personenkonstellationen erprobt, von denen sich jedoch letztlich keine als dauerhaft "fruchtbar" erweist und über das Ende des Romans hinausgerettet werden kann. Ausgehend von dieser Erkenntnis stellte sich mir notwendig die Frage, warum die zwischenmenschlichen Verbindungen hier so ausnahmslos scheitern und ob möglicherweise eine allen gemeinsame zentrale Problematik für ihr Nicht-Funktionieren verantwortlich ist. Zu diesem Zwecke mussten die verschiedenen Beziehungen zunächst einer näheren Betrachtung unterzogen und auf ein Element hin untersucht werden, das möglicherweise in ihnen allen enthalten ist. Als ein solches erschien mir schließlich der Aspekt persönlicher Macht: Das Streben nach Macht, ihre Ausübung und der Kampf um sie erweisen sich als nicht unwesentliche Bestandteile der (nicht nur erotischen) Beziehungen im Roman- und damit einhergehend ebenfalls die Opposition von Stärke und Schwäche und letztlich das Verhältnis von Herrschaft und Unterordnung. Die verschiedenen Manifestationen von Macht lassen sich beispielhaft und in unterschiedlicher Intensität anhand der folgenden vier Figurenkonstellationen im Roman zeigen: Beginnend mit der zweifellos im Mittelpunkt der Erzählung stehenden und vermutlich schillerndsten Verbindung, nämlich der Glahns und Edvardas, deren Macht-Verhältnis als das wohl am we
