About the Author: Mikeal Dabney-El, is a Moorish-American born and raised in Kankakee and Chicago, Illinios. One of four siblings, he grew up as a troubled kid, until finding his love for the sport of basketball in the 6th grade, he still struggled with academics and his sharp temper which stood as a obstacle against him making it on the court to show his talent and subsequently resulted in him indulging in the street life selling crack cocaine to support himself when he left home at the age of 15.The following summer he was charged with attempt murder after he was accused of shooting someone, he stayed in custody 14days before being released due to lack of evidence. A couple months later he was caught with a ounce of crack and pled guilty to possession charges and received 11months in IDOC, he was released on Nov of 2000, he went back to the street life and gained a reputation of a young street hustler by the way he was dedicated to get money. Not even a year later he was back in custody after drugs was planted on him by a crooked drug enforcement agent which led to him receiving another short prison stint which during that time, his older brother was released from prison in early 2002 months before he was released from Statesville Max Prison. Like before Mikeal returned to the streets to pick up where he left off, now that he had the support of his brother's and cousins he would gain a higher degree of success until a unexpected tragedy took the life of his older brother in Mar of 2004. A couple months later he would be charged with federal drug trafficking and received a 151 month sentence, at which time he studied, enhanced his understanding of religion, economics, and cross cultural relations since incarceration afforded him the opportunity to be around people from all over the world and different walks of life. He also discovered his desire to write and after being placed in solitary confinement for 6months he wrote his first screen play. After serving 9yrs and 4months he was released from Milan Federal Prison in Sept of 2013 with the desire to succeed and be a positive example to his 6 children, but circumstances would detour his efforts and he would subsequently return back to federal custody in Sept 2014, exactly one year from his release after he was set up by a informant, he would later be convicted of distribution of heroin and possession of a firearm and received a 66months sentence. In 2017 he proclaimed his nationality as a Moor, and studied law and history
