Life is an Unplanned Journey is a collection of poetry that is based upon the ups and the downs of life. Some prove to bring out some of the saddest emotions, while others bring out the happiest. While a few are personal, the majority can relate to almost anyone. As for the more personal ones, I believe it allows you as a reader to get to know me as not only a poet, but also on a more personal level. If you question if this is the book for you, ask yourself this: have you been in love, broken hearted, lost, out casted, a best friend? Have you ever lost someone, thanked someone, or hurt someone? Have you questioned who you are, who you want to be or who you should be? These questions are ones that almost all people can relate to at some point in their life, and I would like nothing more than to share with you, through my poetry, the feelings I had as I faced my journey. Everyone needs something that touches them so much that it makes a world of a difference. Let this poetry help you!
About the Author: As far as I can remember, I always loved to write. I don't know what it was about it. It could have been that I got the chance to share with the world my life adventures or thought up ideas, I really didn't know. But now, as the years have passed and I have grown into a young adult, I think I finally have it figured out. It's not just I expressing my adventures or ideas to others; it's also about how I do it, how I can relate, and how I can help. I realized my ability to touch people with my words when I was in the sixth grade when I wrote the poem for my dad, The Day I'll Never Forget. After that, I wanted it to happen again, but my writing didn't come naturally to me again until I was in eighth grade, when I wrote and published I Wonder. After that, I poem after poem just came to me at any given time. I was even requested to write poems for different activities going on in my life. It was an honor to know that people liked my work so much that they would think of me to make memorable activities even better. Not only that, but also encourage me to, not only publish my poetry, but also finish writing my novel for teens and publish that as well. It feels good that I find this support of so many of my family and friends. After my choice to take time off of school to figure out what I wanted to do in life, I often felt a disappointment in some ways as well as somewhat an outcast. I only felt like an outcast because I wasn't doing what all the other people my age were doing. They were going to school, I wasn't. My friends were moving on with new people and I felt left behind. Being out casted was an all too familiar feeling. I was born with something called Cerebral Palsy. Due to this, I am only able to walk short distances with the help of crutches or a walker. When younger everyone treated me well, but as years progressed, although I still got along with most people, I was the one on the sidelines even though there was nothing really different about me. But, it didn't matter because most people thought so. When that happened, I turned to the few friends I had and books. Books were my escape from reality. And I would love to use my writing abilities to touch the hearts of my readers and be their escape! I want to show people that even though life is tough and other people have dreams for them, they have to follow their own dreams. No matter how tough it is, they can do whatever they put their mind to. Just like I did!
