Henricus - Edition Deutsche Klassik GmbH Über den Autor: 1791 in Dresden als Sohn eines Gerichtsrates in eine gebildete, liberale Familie hineingeboren, studiert Carl Theodor Körner zunächst an der Bergakademie Freiberg, dann in Leipzig und schließlich in Berlin, wo er dem Corps Guestphalia beitritt. Auf Anraten seines Vaters geht er nach Wien, wo er Förderung durch Freunde der Eltern erfährt und Zugang zum kulturellen Leben der Stadt erhält. In kürzester Zeit schreibt er mehrere Lustspiele für das Burgtheater und und wird k. k. Hoftheaterdichter. Als Preußen im Kampf gegen Napoleon zu den Waffen ruft, kündigt er im März 1813 seine Stelle, tritt dem Lützow'schen Freikorps bei und wird bald zu Adolf von Lützows Adjutant. Am 26. August 1813 fällt mit Theodor Körner ein berühmter Freiheitskämpfer, der zur nationalen Leitfigur erhoben wird, bei einem Gefecht im Forst von Rosenow.
