Leadership is changing from people serving organizations to leadership serving the people. Leadership has entered a time when they are becoming teachers of excellence. It sounds great. I love the word "excellence". Who would not want to be part of that?

Great leaders take the time to build relationships through trust and respect. In this way, they become transformational in the organization. Great leaders share their stories. They share where they have been and who they are. They step outside of themselves for a moment in time to create and share a vision of where they are headed and engage the support of followers. Great leaders are leaders who take care of themselves, find a solid balance between work and life, are relaxed and willing to share their knowledge with their people to ensure they keep growing. Great leaders are humble, respectful, and have a high level of integrity. They walk their talk.

With globalization, many corporations have expanded around the world. This is great. I will also be talking about expatriates and repatriation programs. There is so much to learn and so much needed to create wellness environments for the employees who accept these difficult assignments out of the country. Expatriates experience a whole different dimension of health risks, safety issues, and even different performance appraisals or reviews.

As you read this book, it does not matter what level of leader you are, or even if you are a leader. I want you to think about what kind of legacy you are going to leave behind when you are gone. We are all just humans living on this earth for a short time. Everywhere you look, people are hurting. They are hurting in a million different ways. It is how we open our hearts and love on people, no matter where they are in life, that will leave a mark. It is in your power to leave a good one. We are entering a great movement towards holistic leadership. We need to be on the forefront of that movement.
