L'origine de "La dernière feuille" a été motivée par la souffrance profonde de mon ami, le médecin Issa. N'ayant pas trouvé l'amour de sa vie, je lui ai conçu une histoire d'amour surréaliste. Sur les ondes des stations radio amateur, un lien solide s'établit et une histoire d'amour naît sur deux continents, l'Afrique et l'Amerique du nord. Partant à la recherche de soi même, le médecin gravit la montagne Chaanbi en Afrique du Nord. A chaque étape de sa montée vers le sommet, il peint un portrait qui ressemble de plus en plus fidèlement à Ada. Issa se sent attaché a cette fille qu'il croyait trouver sur le sommet de la montagne. Arrivé à sa destination, il sculpta les troncs des arbres en la personne de Ada. Entre-temps, Ada commence sa recherche de Issa en utilisant sa voix, decouverte par un compositeur Suédois. En descendant la montagne de Sherbrooke, Ada cherche son bien aimé, le médecin Issa à travers les expositions aux galeries d'art. C'est ainsi qu'elle découvre un tableau d'art vivant représentant Karima, la patiente de Issa. Etant aveugle, Ada change son moyen de recherche en se basant sur sa voix angélique. Issa descend la montagne vite pour secourir Karima qui est mourante au bas de la montagne. Il découvre que la vie de Karima parait dépendre des feuilles tombantes de l'arbre en face de sa fenêtre. Etant un bon peintre, il dessina une feuille qu'il fixa à la branche la plus proche de la fenêtre. La feuille factice tiendra Karima en vie. Alors que Issa regravit la montagne Chaanbi rapidement, il perd tout contact avec Ada. Pourtant il n'abandonne pas sa recherche et croit absolument qu'il va la rencontrer sur le sommet. Rétablie de sa maladie, Karima gravit la montagne à la poursuite du médecin peintre qui lui a sauvé la vie. Quand à lui, Issa décide de descendre la montagne une fois pour toutes quand il a su le lieu exact de Ada.
About the Author: L'auteur de ce scénario, ayant comme pseudonyme Kacem Kacem, est dans son premier essai d'écriture. Citoyen du monde qu'il est, Kacem Kacem a créé sa propre république dans un livre qui sera bientôt publié.
