Erwachsene geben in vielfältiger Weise ihre Einstellungen und Haltungen an Kinder weiter. Wie sie Kindheit und Kindsein wahrnehmen, spielt dabei eine wichtige Rolle. Was Kindern zugemutet werden kann und soll, was sie verstehen können und müssen, welches Weltbild sie sich aneignen sollen, welche Aufgaben ihnen in der Gemeinschaft zufallen und welche moralischen Grundpfeiler der Gesellschaft sie verinnerlichen müssen, sind kulturell verschiedene Ansichten. In dieser Arbeit soll untersucht werden, wie Kindheit und Kindsein in der französischen Gesellschaft gesehen wird. Dahingehend werden Aspekte aufgezeigt, die zu Kindheit und Kindsein gehören, aus Sicht der Erwachsenen in der französischen Gesellschaft. Untersuchungsgegenstand dieser Arbeit ist das Medium Kinderkinofilm, da Filme, ähnlich wie Bücher, eine besonders prägende Form der Ideenvermittlung von Erwachsenen an Kinder sein können. Anhand von Kinderkinofilmen lässt sich untersuchen, was Kindern zugemutet wird, was man ihnen zutraut, und welche Themen, Werte, Ideale, Moralvorstellungen und Lebensentwürfe vermittelt werden sollen. Kinoerlebnisse können in der Kindheit besonders intensiv sein, denn die kindliche Wahrnehmung ist eine ganz andere, als die von Erwachsenen. Kinder greifen auf einen geringeren Erfahrungsschatz zurück, der sie die Grenzen zwischen Realität und Fantasie noch durchlässiger erleben lässt, als es bei Erwachsenen der Fall ist. Aus diesem Grund sind Kinder eher bereit sich von einer Handlung hinwegtragen zu lassen, und sie nehmen die in den Filmen transportierten Ideen und Vorstellungen der Erwachsenen viel intensiver auf und verinnerlichen sie leichter.
