About the Book

Der graue Kater war nicht mehr der Jüngste. Wir hatten uns bewusst für eine ältere Katze entschieden, denn nachdem die beiden letzten jungen Kater verunglückt waren, wollte ich keine Katze mehr aufziehen. Ein alter schmusiger Schoßkater war mir noch nie vergönnt gewesen und ich sehnte mich nach einem klugen, gesetzen Tier. Sein Name sollte nach kurzer Diskussion Puma, der Silberlöwe, sein. Als der Graue endlich bei uns einzog, belehrte er uns, die wir dachten schon alles über Katzen, ihre Intelligenz und ihr Verhalten zu wissen, bald eines Besseren. So habe ich es nach fast vierzig Jahren des Zusammenlebens mit Katzen, immer begierig mehr über ihr Verhalten und ihre Fähigkeiten zu erfahren, gewagt in den Pelz unseres letzten außergewöhnlichen Hausherrn zu schlüpfen und mit seinen Augen nochmals zu erleben, wie aus Kedi, dem kleinen türkischen Streunerkater, die Katz' beim Stark namens Puma wurde. Dies ist also die Vorgeschichte unseres grauen Katers mit dem lila Schimmer. Sie ist allerdings frei erfunden. Doch genauso und nicht anders könnte sie sich abgespielt haben. Wir wissen nicht, ob es ähnlich wie in diesem Buch handelnde Personen gegeben hat, noch kennen wir seinen Geburtsort. Und alle, die den Grauen jemals gekannt haben, haben nie von seinem Schicksal erfahren.
About the Author: Sie wurde 1953 in Wien geboren. Bis 2004 ist sie hauptberuflich als Lehrerin für Französisch und Leibesübungen an einer Wiener Allgemeinbildenden Höheren Schule (AHS) tätig. Seither ist sie freischaffende Künstlerin. Phantasiebegabt und kreativ, beschäftigt sie sich schon als Kind intensiv mit Zeichnen, Modellieren und dem Niederschreiben ihrer Erlebnisse mit Tieren. 1986 beginnt sie ihre Ausbildung zur Malerin und Bildhauerin an der Künstlerischen Volkshochschule Lazarettgasse in Wien. Seit 1993 findet man ihre Arbeiten in Zeitschriften und auf Ausstellungen, darunter 2001 und 2006 im Anton Hanak-Museum in Langenzersdorf bei Wien. Neben ihren malerischen und bildhauerischen Schwerpunkten entstehen laufend Bilder von Katzen, ihren Lebenstieren. Ihr Interesse gilt nicht nur dem kreativen Gestalten, sondern ebenso der Verhaltensbeobachtung im Sinne eines Konrad Lorenz. Elfi Stark lebt und arbeitet in Wien-Umgebung. www.elfi-stark.com
