Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 1990 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Erster Weltkrieg, Weimarer Republik, Note: 1,0, Hochschule Darmstadt (Gesellschaft-und Geschichtswissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Ursachen und Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkrieges, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am 28. 6. 1914 wurde der österreichische Thronfolger Franz-Ferdinand von einem bosnischen Studenten namens G. Prinzip in Sarajewo erschossen. Solche Attentate auf "Prominente" standen seit Jahrzehnten auf der Tagesordnung extremistischer Gruppierungen, um Aufmerksamkeit für die ihrer Meinung nach nationale oder soziale Ungerechtigkeit zu erzielen. Keiner dieser politischen Morde hatte bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt eine größere internationale Krise provoziert. In diesem Falle aber sollte der Ablauf des diplomatischen und politischen Geschehens nur sechs Wochen später von diesem individuellen Terrorakt zum Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkrieges führen. Wie konnte das geschehen? Kaum ein Problem der neueren Geschichte ist besser dokumentiert aber auch kontroverser interpretiert als der Ablauf der Julikrise 1914. Das beruht zum großen Teil darauf, dass die Kriegsschuldfrage von Anfang an große politische Bedeutung besaß. Nach Ende des Krieges schrieben die Siegermächte in Artikel 231 des Versailler Vertrages Deutschland die Schuld für den Kriegsausbruch zu. In Deutschland hingegen war der allgemeine Tenor, dass man in der Julikrise in Notwehr gehandelt habe, um in einem aufgezwungenen Defensivkampf die heranrollende russische "Dampfwalze" aufzuhalten. In den dreißiger Jahren setzte sich die Auffassung von einem Parallelversagen der Regierungen durch, die, nach der Formel des britischen Premiers Lloyd George, letztlich alle in den Krieg "hineingeschlittert" seien. Zu nachhaltigen Veränderungen in der historischen Forschung kam es im Jahre 1961 mit dem Buch des Hamburger Historikers Fritz Fischer "Griff nach der Weltmacht". Fischers Arbeit zeigte nicht nur das Ausmaß der deutschen Kriegsziele im Ersten Weltkrieg,
