About the Author: I love animals! I love the outdoors! Horses, hiking, dogs! I used to train hunting dogs. In Connecticut. I enjoyed it. ....Many years later- I got sick. That was the beginning of My Journey. through many misdiagnosis, we finally- years later- diagnosed Lyme Disease. At first, a real diagnosis was a relief. I wasn't crazy. I really Was Sick!... Then came the crash... Lyme Disease is very easy to treat- when it is caught right away. I was LONG PAST that opportunity. I struggled with being sore, lack of good energy, and serious lack of mental energy and brain fog. Things that used to come SO EASY... were steadily becoming more of a challenge. like reading. I went through many protocols- unsuccessfully. I was termed a "non-responder." At some point, I became my own advocate. I delved back into nutrition books, I trained as an herbalist, and learned bodywork. I was already interested in the problems with chemicals and pesticides and GMO foods- but now I was acutely interested, as it applied to my health! What is the connection between the immune system, our diets, environmental toxins.. and good health? I HAD to learn the complex web of contributing causes. I learned how to connect invisible dots. I learned about toxins- how to get them out of the body. Especially neuro-toxins! I wanted my brain BACK, dammit! The brain is the most protected organ in the body. SO, what does that say, when IT is compromised? I had to try a lot of different things, make changes in diet, adding vitamins and supplements. Over time, I began to figure out what worked. It was an ongoing process, but I got better. I had less and less "bad days" and more and more "productive days." I had fog-free days.. and a few become many... I could see what worked from direct, personal experience. I had a good friend; her mother has Alzheimer's. I used to help out, taking care of her mother. I spent a lot of time: watching, observing, thinking... And after a while, I began to connect those same dots... I wondered if many of the same concepts might be affecting Alzheimer health. I began to read about Alzheimer's and understand what was going on. We made some healthy changes- and we saw improvement. She had less stress, less outbursts and frustrations. She was overall happier and engaging more. We saw more complete sentences and engagement. She had better day-time energy, slept better.. and her caregivers were a lot less stressed and exhausted from taking care of her.
