Dem schließt sich schnell die Frage an, was uns Gehirnfunktionen überhaupt sagen - und was sagen uns überhaupt Gehirnforscher? Dass beides nicht das Gleiche ist, wird sich noch zeigen. Welches Menschenbild entwerfen Hirnforscher, welches es für die Pädagogik und Erziehungswissenschaft unabdingbar macht, ihr Handeln und ihre theoretische Reflexion daran auszurichten? Kann eine von Hirnforschern entworfene biologische Anthropologie für pädagogische Praxis, speziell die Praxis des Unterrichtens, grundlegend sein, so dass diese sich ganz neu begründen muss? Keine Frage, die Hirnforscher beherrschen zur Zeit den wissenschaftlichen Diskurs. Ihre Beiträge finden nicht nur Eingang in diversen wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften und beherrschen nicht nur die Wissenschaftsseiten der gehobenen Qualitätspresse, sondern sind auch im Feuilleton angekommen. Seit 2002 gibt es mit "Gehirn&Geist" eine eigene Zeitschrift für die Themen der Hirnforschung, die sich auf Anhieb auf dem Markt etabliert hat. Mittlerweile ist die Hirnforschung unter dem Etikett "Neurodidaktik" auch in der Pädagogik angekommen. Dabei versteht sich nicht jeder, der sich für "gehirngerechtes" Lehren- und Lernen ausspricht, explizit als Neurodidaktiker. Allen gemeinsam ist aber die Vorstellung, dass jeglicher Lehr- Lernprozess hirnforscherliche Erkenntnisse zu berücksichtigen hat. Mit anderen Worten: Wer vom Gehirn nichts versteht, versteht auch nichts vom Lernen. Beginnt man nun das Unterfangen, Neurodidaktik als pädagogische Disziplin zu legitimieren, dann erkennt man recht bald, dass das Verhältnis von Neuro- und Didaktik ein äußerst problematisches ist.
