About the Book

Zur Neufassung dieses Handbuches Medien, insbesondere die AV-Medien Film und Fernsehen, pädago- gisch nutzbar zu machen, ist ein naheliegender und keineswegs neuer Gedanke, und es ist in dieser Hinsicht schon manches unternommen worden. Aber zum einen verändern sich die qualitativen Bedingungen dafür - weil Sozial- und Erziehungswissenschaften neue Vorgaben liefern-, zum anderen auch die quantitativen, weil wir uns einem wahrhaft mas- senhaften Ansturm von AV-Massenmedien gegenübersehen. Wer heute mit pädagogischer Verantwortung im Medienbereich arbeitet, empfindet mit Bedrückung das Mißverhältnis zwischen dem Medienangebot und der oft geringen Kompetenz des Publikums, damit fertigzuwerden. Dabei muß man wohl unter "Publikum" nicht nur die "Endverbraucher", son- dern auch die "Mittler", also die Pädagogen und in vieler Hinsicht auch die "Macher" selbst verstehen. Die Autoren dieses Buches - tätig in verschiedenen Institutionen (Deutsches Institut für Filmkunde, Wiesbaden; Bundeszentrale für poli- tische Bildung, Bonn; Landeszentrale für politische Bildung Baden- Württemberg; Landesbildstelle Württemberg) - hatten unabhängig von- einander diese Rechnung aufgemacht, dieselbe Bedrückung empfunden und - gemeinsam - den Beschluß gefaßt, etwas zu tun. Sie entwickelten ein Projekt der Qualifizierung von "Mediatoren", also von "Mittlern" zwi- schen Medien und "Endverbrauchern". Einsetzer von Medien (Lehrer, Er- wachsenenbildner, Mitarbeiter der außerschulischen Jugendarbeit) und Berater für den Medieneinsatz (AV-Berater, Bildstellenleiter) sollen über ein System von Fortbildungsveranstaltungen mit Möglichkeiten ver- traut gemacht werden, AV-Medien kundiger, also effektiver einzusetzen. Darüber hinaus sollen sie in den Stand gesetzt werden, ihrerseits derar- tige Veranstaltungen durchzuführen. Dazu bedurfte es einer gedankli- chen und organisatorischen Konzeption und entsprechend eingerichte- ten Arbeitsmaterials.
