Nakeshia Shannon is a Multi-Published Photographer, Writer, Wife, and Mother of Three. Her writing and work have been featured in Upstate Parent Magazine, Greenville News, Citizen-Times Magazine, Hello Story Teller, and more.
Her children are the inspiration behind the Grace series and her adventures. She writes in hopes that teaching other children the same way she taught her own could be an encouragement to both parents and children alike.
The series is meant for children to ask questions and become more confident and kind.
The Goal of 'Grace's Underwater Adventure' was to showcase kindness and confidence. Often we are put in situations outside of our control. It's okay to ask for help or accept help to get where we belong.
Ziggy - got left behind because he wasn't strong enough to swim against the current on his own.
Grace - saw him in distress and volunteered to help him along the way until he was reunited with his friends.
The other fish and the shark were allowed to be negative, but they chose kindness and encouragement; even when they had no information or hadn't seen their friends, they still encouraged them and did their best to help along the way.
Ziggy gained his color and confidence as he became more outspoken and recognized that kindness comes in all shapes and sizes.
