About the Book

Juan Carlos Mejía nace en Managua, Nicaragua en 1972. Se traslada a Estados Unidos a la edad de trece años en compañía de sus padres y hermanas en busca de nuevos horizontes en 1985. Termina la preparatoria en 1990 y comienza sus estudios en artes gráfi cas para graduarse como litógrafo en 1992. Posteriormente, con sed de aprender y ampliar sus posibilidades para triunfar en Estados Unidos, decide transferirse a la Universidad CalState Domínguez Hills, donde termina sus estudios universitarios con un Bachillerato en español y una segunda especialidad menor en sociología, graduándose con mención honorífi ca en el año 2000. De igual forma, ese mismo año, nace su hija Nubia Raquel Mejía. Aun con más de veinticinco años de radicado en Estados Unidos, jamás dejó de sentir esa nostalgia y necesidad de volver a su adorada, Nicaragua. Siempre se pierde en el recuerdo de esa tierra en donde se dice que la poesía es parte de la herencia de cada nicaragüense. Sus pasatiempos favoritos son: la música, viajar y compartir tiempo con su familia. Actualmente, se desempeña como traductor e intérprete para dos hospitales locales en el condado de Los Ángeles, California. La poesía es un puente que ha unido a la humanidad de muchas formas por mucho tiempo. "Generaciones" es un poemario cargado de la esencia de lo que en realidad debe ser la poesía - el don de expresión que abre los corazones. En cada página se podrá dar cuenta de cómo la poesía, como en muchos casos, sirve de vehículo al autor para desahogar una serie de acontecimientos tanto personales como generales que, en cierta forma todos los seres humanos hemos vivido. El amor en todas sus fases, la melancolía y los temas más comunes se plasman de una forma especial, haciendo cada una de éstas obras muy originales en su estilo. Ya sea que se guste del verso rimado o libre, este poemario ofrece variedad de estilos, pero sobretodo, deja un sentimiento palpable desde la primera hasta la última letra de cada poema. Quizá publicar no sea un acontecimiento de gran trascendencia, pero para Mejía, es un sueño hecho realidad que con humildad quisiera compartir con todos los que gustan de la poesía. En especial, este poemario es dedicado al amor de su vida, su hija de diez años que sufre de Fibrosis Quística: Nubia Raquel Mejía.
