About the Author: Larry Johanson is an author, speaker, life coach and parent whose quest for meaning and purpose began in earnest at age 15 when his father died and left his family in deep financial and emotional pain. In his quest Larry discovered Shakespeare, Socrates, Eric Berne, Fritz Perls, Carl Jung, Gandhi, Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr and a host of other mentors who expanded the horizon of his mind and inspired him to break out of the narrow confines of the straitened circumstances he grew up in. The crowning moment of his quest was meeting the Venerable Roshi Philip Kapleau, author of the Three Pillars of Zen, whose serenity and equanimity so struck him that he vowed to discover the secret behind Roshi Kapleau's incredible presence. He became a student of Roshi Kapleau and has practiced Zen for 38 years. Today he practices with Roshi Sunyana Graef, Dharma Heir to Roshi Kapleau and founder of the Vermont Zen Centre.
