My name is Gordon Perkins, the local sheriff, and I have a small family with my divorced wife Nancy and daughter Jamie. Things started to get strange when I stumbled on the mysterious disappearances of some teenagers in Salem Oregon. I am investigating this and other things which Suncrest, a major corporation, may be involved. With their claws sunk deeply into every facet of government, they are everywhere. Furthermore, with no community outreach, investigation or even confirmation of their deaths from the local media, I am baffled. In fact, every trace they ever existed, has been erased. It is as if they were plucked from the face of the earth. There must be justice served, and I will answer the call. However, when my opponent has uncalculatable resources to bring to bear, how will I do it?
Now my daughter of all people is being targeted by this terrible company bringing the awful reality to my very doorstep. I will have to dig deep, trusting only my strongest friend and Deborah to help me. But after Jamie found the sypher, the document containing the secrets to breaking the coded communication of Suncrest, the walls are closing in, and I have no power to stop it! Terra Gumbo, the notorious head of her school, who is also part of Suncrest, may already suspect her of having this. I must hurry quickly, since her school mates are being targeted as we speak of having the sypher.
If this were not enough, there are whispers of dangerous ancient powers, which I have discovered my daughter of having, and they may lead her to even greater peril. Something on the wind is definitely up, and my gut tells me Suncrest is gearing up to do something huge. Why am I always two steps behind them?
I know this will mean making horrific decisions placing my daughter in harm's way and having to watch her face these evils by herself. She will not do this alone, but will it be enough to conquer the evil that seeks not only to kill her, but to wipe her from existence? I will have to rely on faith to see her through, because I know for a fact the path I tread now will lead only to my death.
