About the Book

Five Knocks provides a dramatic, fictional account of a young Chinese girl's search for her biological parents. In her quest, she makes the shocking and bizarre discovery that her father, a high-ranking population scientist and friend to Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, authored the one-child policy. Abandoned and given up for dead by the father who orchestrated this failed, radical social engineering experiment, Sya was driven to find her truth. This is her story.
About the Author: Donna has authored numerous articles and three books, including the globally distributed "The Value of Water: A Compendium of Essays by Smart CEOs"; the practical and useful book for funeral planning: "The Ultimate To Do List When Your Loved One Dies: Before & After the Funeral"; and "Propaganda, Public Diplomacy, and Idea Invasion: The Story of USIA's Worldnet," a book based on her doctoral dissertation.

As Chief of Party for the Securing Water for Food Technical Assistance Facility, a multi-lateral government-funded, incubator-accelerator and a recent finalist winner of Fast Company's World Changing Ideas Award, she catalyzes social impact entrepreneurship in the water-ag nexus with innovators who are addressing the world's super problem - how water is being used for agriculture.

Donna has worked previously as a management and branding consultant for international organizations and is globally recognized as a champion for water, sustainability, agriculture, and the environment. An internationally accredited business communicator (ABC) and certified development project manager (CDPM(R)), she was one of 10 social scientists to conduct research in a world capital for the U.S. Treasury's first redesign of the $100 bill. She traveled to Almaty, Kazakstan and conducted focus groups on money practices with citizens from all socio-economic strata.

Donna holds a Ph.D. in international communication, has worked and traveled in 43 countries and sings lead in Harbor City Music Company, an internationally-ranked (6th place - 2018 Sweet Adelines International Competition) barbershop harmony show chorus. A descendant of Alexander Mouton, the 11th governor of Louisiana, Donna is also of Cajun heritage.
