Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Filmwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Freie Universität Berlin, Veranstaltung: Kino und Öffentlichkeit - Neuer Deutscher Film, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Rainer Werner Fassbinder erregte während seiner intensiven Schaffenszeit (er produzierte 40 Filme zwischen 1969-1982) viel Interesse, Kritik und fand Anerkennung vor allem im europäischen Ausland, wo er oft als Chronist Deutschlands oder gar als "Gewissen einer Nation" gesehen wurde. Er wird zu einer Gruppe meist junger Regisseure gezählt, die, Anfang der 1960er Jahre, in der BRD, den sogenannten Jungen oder Neuen Deutschen Film ins Leben riefen. Mit dem Oberhausener Manifest von 1962 wurden neue Produktionsmöglichkeiten, eine spezielle Ausbildung, verbesserte Filmförderungsmaßnahmen und die zunehmende Zusammenarbeit von Regisseuren mit dem Fernsehen eingeleitet. Mit ihrem Motto "Papas Kino ist tot" markierten sie deutlich ihre Ablehnung der bisherigen staatlichen Produktion von Heimatfilmen oder Filmen, die zumeist nach den Mustern des klassischen Hollywood-Erzählkinos funktionierten. Ihr Aufstand war ebenso eine Demonstration gegen die intellektuell und künstlerisch eher anspruchslosen Filme, die in der Geborgenheit eines erholsamen Konsumglücks der Wirtschaftswunderjahre die deutsche NS-Vergangenheit verdrängten und für die das Kino zum sehnsüchtigen Träumen und Zerstreuen einlud. Mit den neuen deutschen Regisseuren wenden sich ihre Kurz- und Spielfilme und deren Ereignisort, das Kino, dem sozialen und politischen Feld der Gesellschaft zu bzw. erweitern es durch ihre hinterfragende Kritik daran. Das Medium des Films und die öffentlich gemeinschaftliche Form des Kinos werden herangezogen, um die bislang ignorierte Vergangenheit zu erschließen und neu zu bewerten. Gleichzeitig wird auch die eigene und zeitgenössische Gegenwart psychologisch, politisch und soziologisch untersucht.
