Cette étude montrera une compréhension approfondie des publicités visuelles. Elle montrera le choix d'accessoires de mode spécifiques, de lieux et de schémas de couleurs utilisés par l'annonceur pour représenter différentes idéologies et donner différentes significations aux publicités. La recherche sera menée en sélectionnant différentes publicités du catalogue d'été et d'hiver 2014-15 d'Outfitters. Elle explorera comment différents facteurs dans les publicités visuelles jouent un rôle important pour donner différentes significations et rendre une publicité inspirante et attrayante pour les consommateurs et promouvoir la marque d'une manière unique. Elle montrera également comment les publicités présentent différentes idéologies en concevant un cadre/emplacement unique pour les publicités, une palette de couleurs et une sélection de modèles pour présenter un produit et comment ces éléments sont utilisés pour inciter les consommateurs à l'acheter. Cette recherche sera menée dans le cadre de l'approche multimodale de la sémiotique sociale de Kress et Theo Van Leuween.
