About the Author:

El doctor David N. Tucker es un oftalmólogo retirado con títulos de la Universidad de Tufts y del Medical College de la Universidad de Cornell. Después de una pasantía en el Hospital Mount Sinai en la Ciudad de Nueva York fue un oficial en el Servicio de Salud Pública de EE. UU. En los Institutos Nacionales de Salud. Realizó investigaciones sobre enfermedades infecciosas durante la Guerra de Vietnam. Como residente jefe bajo el mando del Dr. Edward Norton en el Instituto Oftalmológico Bascom Palmer en Miami, aceptó una beca de un año con el eminente micro-cirujano colombiano Dr. José Barraquer y con otros prestigiosos cirujanos oftalmológicos en Europa. Durante más de treinta años, el Dr. Tucker realizó consultas privadas en Cincinnati y fue el director del Departamento de Oftalmología en el Hospital Judío de Cincinnati durante veintisiete años. Después de jubilarse en 2004, trabajó a jornada parcial como profesor clínico auxiliar de oftalmología en la Escuela de Medicina de la Universidad de Nueva York. Él y su esposa Lynda celebraron sus bodas de oro en 2013, tienen cuatro hijos y nueve nietos.

Burton Spivak recibió su PhD en Historia Americana en la Universidad de Virginia, donde fue becario Woodrow Wilson y becario Virginia-Danforth y enseñó en la Universidad de Texas en Austin, en la Universidad Brown, Bates College y en la Universidad de Virginia. Fue un antiguo ganador del Premio Stuart L.
