Her sey edebiyat icindi; onca seruvenden sonra tum zamanlarin en unlu hayalperesti La Manchali Don Kisot'u yazdi. Nesli tukenmis sovalyelere ozenip hayallerinde kurdugu dunyada yasayan Don Kisot, umutsuz bir kahramanlikla, yel degirmenlerini devlestiren aptallik arasinda bir simge gunumuz dunyasinda. Tipki usagi Sanco Panza'nin pratik ve gercekci halkin simgesi oldugu gibi... Birinci bolumu 1605 yilinda yayimlanan Ispanyol edebiyatinin bu basyapiti, yayimlandigi gunden beri pek cok dile cevrildi, defalarca basildi.Omrunun son yillarinda da olsa, Don Kisot sayesinde istedigi un, sayginlik ve paraya kavusan Cervantes oldugunde modern romanin ilk kilometre taslarindan birini diktigini bilmiyordur. Cok farkli ulusal edebiyatlarin cok farkli yazar, elestirmen ve okurlari Don Kisot'u modern edebiyatin baslangic noktasi ve kutsal kitabi olarak degerlendirirler. Don Kisot'un uc tek tanrili dinin kutsal kitaplarindan sonra gelmis gecmis en cok okunan kitabi olmasi da bu degerlendirmenin hakliligini kanitlar. Gunumuzde onun yalnizca ilk modern roman degil, ayni zamanda ilk post-modern roman oldugunu iddia edenler de var. Bu kuskusuz tartismaya acik bir konudur; ancak bu iddianin kesin olarak gosterdigi, modern zamanlari yararak gelen muhtesem Don Kisot'un tam 400 yil once su siralarda yayinlandigindan beri guncelliginden hicbir sey kaybetmemis oldugudur. Belki de bu yitmezligin, bitmezligin sirri bir baska edebiyat olumsuzunun, Dostoyevski'nin su sozlerinin altinda bir yerlerdedir: "Don Kisot, insan dusuncesinin en son ve en buyuk sozu, insanin ifade edebilecegi en aci ironidir" Senyor Kesada'nin tatli delilikleri: Koyun satosu bir tepe ustunde yukseliyordu. Berber ile papaz o sabah bu tepenin eteginde karsilastilar; hem birbirlerini gormekten, hem de bu taze ve parlak sabahtan dogan sevincle uzun uzun birbirlerinin elini siktilar, Ispanya kirlari, goz alabildigine gunesin altina serilip gidiyordu. Gokyuzunde en guzel yaz gunlerinin derin ve temiz maviligi vardi. Her sey goze hos gorunuyor, her sey derin bir yasama sevinci ve tatliligi ile dolup tasiyordu. Bununla beraber papaz dusunceli gorunmekte idi. Berber: - Dostumuz Senyor Kesada ne halde? diye sordu. Papaz cenazeden doner gibi bir cehre ile icini cekerek cevap verdi: - Nasil istemezseniz oyle. Ben simdi satodan geliyorum. Dostumuza o ugursuz kitaplari bir parca birakip kirlara cikmasi icin yalvardim. Ha ona nasihat vermissin, ha bir disi katira ! Berber basini iki yana sallayarak: - Dogru, dedi, onunki si bal gibi delilik! O sovalye romanlari yazmakla vakitlerini geciren asagilik yazicilarin ettigini bulacak.
About the Author: Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (29 Eylul 1547 - 23 Nisan 1616), Ispanyol romanci, sair ve oyun yazaridir. Don Kisot'un yaraticisi. Genc yasta basladigi edebiyat hayatinda denemeleri ve tiyatro eserleri ile kisa surede taninan bir yazar olmustur. Ayrica Ispanyol edebiyatinda roman geleneginin baslaticisi olarak kabul edilir. 15 Eylul 1569'da Madrid'de bir yaralama iddiasiyla Miguel de Cervantes adli biri hakkinda tutuklama karari cikarildi. Verilen cezaya gore sol eli kesilecek ve 10 yil surgunde kalacakti. Bir ad benzerligi soz konusu degilse bu olay Cervantes'in Italya'ya gidisinin nedeni olabilir. 1570'te II. Selim Kibris'i ele gecirince Papa V. Pius Osmanlilara karsi birlik cagrisinda bulundu. Cagriya yalnizca Ispanya ve Venedik karsilik verdi. Cervantes Roma'daki Ispanyol birligine katildi. 7 Ekim 1571'de Osmanli donanmasiyla Lepanto (Inebahti) Korfezinde yapilan Inebahti Deniz Savasi'na katilan Marquesa adli kadirgada bulunan Cervantes, iki kez gogsunden yaralandi, bir top gullesiyle sol elini kaybetti. Daha sonra Osmanlilar tarafindan tutsak edilen Cervantes, 1575-1580 yillari arasinda Cezayir'de esir olarak yasamistir. Osmanli esaretinde bulundugu sure zarfinda 4 kez kacma tesebbusunde bulundugu tah-min edilmektedir. . Hic birinde basari kazanamamasina ragmen bu tesebbusler sonucunda ceza da almamistir. Ancak orada da dolandiricilikla itham edilip hapse atilmistir. Burada yazmaya daha siki sarilmistir.1580 yilinda biten ve Kaptan-i Derya Kilic Ali Pasa tarafindan Mimar Sinan'a yaptirilan Kilic Ali Pasa camiisinin yapiminda da esir isci olarak bir sure calismistir. Yasaminin sonlarina dogru unlu eseri Don Quijote (Don Kisot)'u hapishanede kaleme almistir ve bu eseri sayesinde tum dunyada taninmistir. Eserde yazarin kendi hayatiyla alay ettigi ve kahramanla aralarinda cokca benzerlikler oldugu gorulur. Don Kisot dunyanin en cok okunan eserlerinden biridir ve 38 dile cevrilmistir. Bu eser hala dunyanin en bilinen romanlari arasindadir.
