About the Author: Hi reader, Ben here. I have no idea what I am supposed to write here, so just a heads up that it will probably be terrible. You have been warned. Biography. Right. I live in England, and am seventeen at the time of writing this. I first came up with the idea of Defiled Isle when a geography lesson turned dull. Twenty minutes later, a map of a mysterious island was laid out in front of me. At the time it had no name and, since I was probably ten or eleven at the time, it was naturally filled with monsters and magic and the like. I soon realised that an island full of daemons is useless when there is nobody for them to antagonise, so the Usurpers appeared from somewhere in my mind, followed shortly by Darkheart and a vague outline of the story that you see now. Several concept sketches later, I had a definite idea of what I wanted to do with the plot and what all the characters would look like and maybe a bit about their personalities. But, still, I hadn't put pen to paper. It wasn't until four years later that I eventually got writing. I got a copy of Christopher Paolini's "Eragon" for Christmas and thought it was awesome. I then turned to the endpaper and realised that he was only fifteen when he began writing. "That's it" I thought, and I began soon after. It took me a few months to get the draft ready, and my sister Hannah encouraged me to publish it and then write the sequel. At the time of writing, I haven't written the sequel but it is all planned out so tell me if it is worth a sequel in the ratings! I soon finished my other work "She Who Wrought Me" and am currently working on "The Necrocodex," so stay tuned for more from me! How was that? Not absolutely atrocious I hope.
