Sulle orme del Decamerone di Boccaccio, questo libricino narra le avventure bizzarre, ma sempre simpatiche di uno studente tedesco in un'università europea di Firenze. Immergendosi nella giungla della vita italiana, diventa eroe e vittima della satira.
Il sipario si apre su un autista che denuncia senza pietà la disfunzione del Paese, ma che si mostra inaspettatamente generoso quando deve vendere biglietti. La pacata polizia locale, che non persegue piccoli criminali, ma inventa con ingegno sconti su multe di parcheggio, non è meno sorprendente. Nel frattempo, c'è un naufragio al largo dell'Elba sotto l'influenza dell'alcool e un'eruzione vulcanica in Sardegna, in cui Silvio ha messo lo zampino. Al culmine del massacro satirico, un locandiere altoatesino getta abilmente dei fighetti italiani fuori dal suo rifugio di montagna, mentre due universitari tedeschi di scarso calibro fanno gli sdolcinati vegetariani. Di fronte a questo caos, un direttore d'orchestra troppo zelante che si mutila a un concerto non attira più di tanto l'attenzione.
Ma sopra ogni cosa vola l'Amore, solo che qui scrive storie di un genere diverso: un troubadour cerca invano di ammaliare la sua amata con dei canti, cadendo - nel tentativo - dal tetto della sua casa. Una coppia di studenti che vive ancora a casa per gli incontri amorosi deve accontentarsi dell'auto di papà, mascherata in anticipo da un povero precario con vecchi giornali. Una coppia spagnolo-svedese insegna alla sua prole dalla pelle candida una lingua che altrimenti verrebbe conosciuta solo attraverso i film nazisti. E una bambina di quattro anni scopre in circostanze strane perché i dinosauri si sono estinti all'Elba.
Ma, ahimè, alla fine entra in scena Angelica, una rifiutata bellezza siciliana, pronta a mettere fine al tripudio di scherzi, gettando tutte le storie nella spazzatura, seguite da voi, poveri e forse innocenti lettori. Boccaccio sarebbe ben felice dei suoi discendenti, se non fosse per l'odiosa strega Corona, che vuole porre fine alla vecchia cara Italia come una nuova peste.
Tutto questo è successo in qualche modo, ma niente è vero!
