About the Author: Talented author and historian Dr. Kenneth Friedman's career includes working for IBM, and while at this job, visiting Japan, and, after retiring, publishing Afternoon of the Rising Sun: The Battle of Leyte Gulf followed by Morning of the Rising Sun: The Heroic Story of the Battles for Guadalcanal. Dr. Friedman earned an engineering degree from UCLA, an MBA from San Jose State University, and a doctorate in business from California Coast University. This third work, Dawn of the Rising Sun: Why Did Japan Declare War on the World, traces US-Japan relations through almost a century that proceeded toward the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. He has dedicated this book to his beloved late wife and best friend, Tova. He is a widower, has three grown children and two grandchildren, and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
