Studienarbeit Universität Oldenburg: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die zwei Anwendungsmöglichkeiten des Werkstattunterrichts und der Wochenplanarbeit im Konzept des offenen Unterrichts explizit Darzustellen, um neue Möglichkeiten für Lehrkräfte aufzuzeigen. Laut Peschel gilt die Devise, dass Kinder lernen wollen. (vgl. Felten 2004: 22) Das bedeutet, dass ein Lehrer die Kinder auch lernen lassen muss. Dies kann laut Peschel mittels der kompletten Öffnung aller Dimensionen des Unterrichts geschehen: Von der Planung über die Inhalte, die Methodik, die Sozialformen, bis hin zur Zeiteinteilung.
Der offene Unterricht ist jedoch kein Patentrezept dafür, dass Schüler auf jeden Fall besser lernen oder mehr Spaß am Lernen haben. Er soll lediglich ein Vorschlag bzw. ein Versuch sein, das herkömmliche Frontalprinzip zu Gunsten der Schülerleistungen und Fähigkeiten zu erweitern. Peschel hat mit seiner Anwendung positive Erfahrungen machen können, dennoch bleibt er auf diesem Gebiet einer von Wenigen, der eine "wirkliche Öffnung" von Unterricht versucht hat und zu positiven Ergebnissen kommen konnte. Letztlich muss sich jede Lehrkraft für sich die Ziele ihres Unterrichtes setzen und entscheiden, wie sie diese entsprechend ihrer Kompetenzen und Fähigkeiten und in Hinblick auf ihre Zöglinge verwirklichen kann. Leitfäden wie jene von Peschel (2003) oder Tomans (2005) können eine große Hilfe auf dem Weg sein, diese Ziele in einem Schülerorientierten Unterricht zu verwirklichen.
