In view of discussions in recent years about the problems of small enterprises a Study of Corporate sector with respect to size bears particular interest. Further, liberalization Policy as enunciated in the Country with a great promise to correct the ailments of Indian Economy and to put the private sector on the path of sustained growth, the effect of liberalization on profitability of corporate firms of different sizes assumes great importance. Thus, the Effects of size and liberalization policy on profitability of corporate sector lie on the heart of this piece of work. Our sincere efforts in this work have been to exhibit the Relationship between size and profitability in the context of new economic reform as introduced by the Government of India in 1991. The present work consists of six chapters. Chapter 1 deals with Introduction. The theoretical frame work of the study is discussed in Chapter 2. Methodology and Research design of the study find their place in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 deals with size-profitability analysis of four size Classes of firms during pre and post liberalization period. 17 profitability ratios have been discussed thread-bare for different size categories to conclude size and liberalization effect on the profitability of corporation. In Chapter 5, the co-variation of determinants of Financial ratios through out the study period is analyzed with correlation analysis. Summary of the findings, test of hypotheses, concluding remarks, etc. are dealt in the last chapter. In order to maximize profitability by different size group of firms and assume wide spread gains of liberalization policy by the Indian firms, a few suggestions have been offered at the end of the study.About the AuthorDr. Sradhananda Das is an eminent educationist, presently placed as Reader in the Department of Commerce of Ganjam Degree College in the district of Ganjam, Orissa. He did his Ph.D. on Corporate Profitability with liberalization approach with UGC Financial assistance under the guidance of Dr Sradhananda Das. He has been attending and presenting Research articles in seminars and conferences of State & National Level both in the Fields of Economics & Commerce. His specialization is Regional Economics and Development Economics in the field of corporate sector.
