Piaget a mis en évidence le rôle fondamental de l'activité propre de l'enfant dans la construction de ses connaissances. Les recherches présentées ici prolongent cette perspective en montrant, par une série d'expériences auprès de petits groupes d'enfants, comment l'individu est en fait «co-auteur» de son développement intellectuel. Qui sont ses partenaires dans cette élaboration cognitive? Des adultes certes, mais peut-être surtout ses pairs. La richesse des interactions sociales entre enfants pour le développement de l'intelligence a sans doute longtemps été sous-estimée et la connaître renouvelle la problématique du rôle des facteurs sociaux dans l'acquisition des connaissances. Cette nouvelle édition est complétée par les chapitres adjoints à la traduction en russe de l'ouvrage. Le débat s'élargit vers l'étude non seulement du social comme facteur susceptible d'affecter le développement mais aussi comme lieu de l'inscription même des actes cognitifs. Cet ouvrage a paru également en anglais, espagnol, portugais, russe et bientôt en italien.
About the Author: L'auteur: Anne-Nelly Perret-Clermont est professeur à l'Université de Neuchâtel où elle conduit des recherches sur la psychologie sociale des transmissions de connaissances.
